... Scaredy the Cat
On August 10th (see news below) we reported information shared on 'Scaredy' the cat. Ty introduced this Beanie Baby on August 1st as a BB2.0; it was reported that this Beanie does not have a button AND the secret code is on a separate folded tag. Our friend Sakurako of Japan (Bottega Beanies) shares photos, along with the hang tags, for those interested in seeing the difference in this BB2.0.

... Almost Tyme
With the weather still quite 'warm', and the Fall season not officially here until next month, it's a bit difficult to imagine "Holiday" Beanies. However, it does look like Ty will be introducing some very soon. Coming soon - new to the Beanie Baby family - are ... '2008 Holiday Teddy', 'Howlidays' (Christmas dog), 'Snowbanks' (penguin), 'Trimmings' (moose), and a BB2.0 - 'Yule' (beaver). And of course, there are new holiday Jingle Beanies and more. Want to take a peek - you can check out Cindys Beans ... OR just patiently wait - and keep an eye on the Ty website !

With the end of August approaching (yes, it's hard to believe), we should anticipate Ty to retire various products. Several have (silently) retired (noted as today's date unless we are informed otherwise). Posted on the Ty Cyberboard, along with Dazzlin' Destiny (Ty Girlz) ...

... News From the UK ... 'Peppa Pig' Series (Update)
Following the news we posted on August 5th, our thanks to Richard (from the UK) who shares the following:

I am taking pre-orders for these items now & I hope to be shipping on Monday 25th August (details on www.Cheshirebears.co.uk). International collectors are more than wecome as we ship worldwide. I have also added some photos for the site for those of you who are not familiar with Peppa Pig. However,please be advised that these are representative pictures only and are not of the actual beanies themselves.

... 'Scaredy' - A BB2.0 Change
On August 1st, Ty introduced one BB2 Beanie Baby ... 'Scaredy'. And an interesting fact worth noting ... he does not have a button AND the secret code is on a separate folded tag. This makes it the same as an 'original' Beanie, other than the fact that you can play online with it. Perhaps an indication of things to come? We shall see.

Beanie Baby race proceeds go to police, fire departments

"The second annual Beanie Baby 5K race, held June 29 in Ty Warner Park, was more than a hit for runners and walkers crossing the finish line. Organizers of the race presented the chiefs of the Westmont police and fire departments a check for $5,000 Monday night, to be split evenly between the departments. The fire department already has used the money to purchase special bicycles for a paramedic patrol. “We had a pilot program with the bicycle paramedics last year, and they were such a success we decided to go with it,” said Fire Chief Frank Trout. “They’re a fast, safe way to transport medics in congested areas.”

The bikes, which will be used at events such as the Taste of Westmont and the Fourth of July festival, carry advanced life support equipment including medicines, syringes, airway equipment and even defibrillators, Trout said. “Everyone sees them, and they like them. It’s a good public relations tool,” Trout said. The police department was the sole beneficiary of the race last year and used the money to purchase ballistic safety vests for officers. This year, Police Chief Jim Ramey said the department will use the money to purchase “cutting edge” rechargeable flashlights, with the hope of assigning one to each patrol officer. “They’re lighter, smaller and produce more illumination than heavy aluminum flashlights,” Ramey said.

Beanie Baby 5K run co-organizer Gregg Pill said this year’s race was a “great success.” In its sophomore year, it more than doubled in size from 162 participants to 403. The race was sponsored by local businesses the Oak Brook Racquet and Fitness Club, the McCrone Group, and Ty Warner, which produces Beanie Babies stuffed animals, the race’s namesake. “We got great reviews on the course and lots of positive comment, and we’re expecting an even bigger race next year,” Pill said."

Hi There, I've some exciting news I'd like to share with you all. Ty will be introducing a Uk exclusive trio in August based around the childrens' 'Peppa Pig' series. Their introduction was confirmed to me today by Ty and these beanies will only available in the Uk. A llimited production run is due to dock with us at the end of this month and no more will be available until the end of Jan 09. Peppa Pig is a very well established children's character here in the Uk, and a wealth of merchandise is already available showing Peppa and her family. Though I can't confirm any names at this time, there will be three characters initially released, one of who is Peppa herself. If anyone wishes to reserve a trio,you can do so via my site www.Cheshirebears.co.uk, where international customers are more than welcome.

Hi Doodle, I check your site often, and thought this might be something your readers / collectors may want to know. I have a four year old who will love these new Beanies coming out soon. I saw a picture on Cindy's Beans website and began further research. There are three up and coming "Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!" (Nick, Jr.) Beanie Babies that are TOO cute. The site I checked out ... a Wow Wow Wubbzy website ... shows 3 Ty Beanie Babies. It states retailers Walgreens, CVS, Borders, Barnes & Noble, and Hallmark as accounts that will be carrying them. There is also a Ty Plush Gift Pack (a DVD and Beanie Baby) that the site says will be available at Sam's Club. Just click on the bar and scroll down. It just says "Fall 2008" for the gift pack.
